Description

Coquette. By Emile Pinedo (copy)

The public at the Paris Salon for 1870 were enchanted by the compositions of Emile Pinedo (1840-1916), who was exhibiting for the first time.

The talented Parisian sculptor, medal-maker and bronze founder produced a substantial number of female figures in bronze.

His delicate, elegant models were much admired by the Bourgeois European. Public and were delightful additions to smart interiors in the late 19th

and early 20th centuries.

The fluidity of the bronze casting, the soft glimmer and semi-tones accentuate the feminine image, while also retaining the heightened romanticism

that was so favored by Emile Pinedo.

This nude figure – Coquette, of a young woman stands on a bronze base.

Her captivating youthful charm is intensified by the languor of her movements.

Her arms are flung gracefully up behind her head as the girl tidies her wayward hair.
